Plot of The Heiress Strikes Back

Cecilia was studying abroad but came back to town after a long absence in order to help her father keep Simeon Group (the family business) afloat. She aims to learn as much about the company's operations as possible so as to smooth out any rough edges that might damage the company's performance and reputation and, for this purpose, she seeks recruitment as a grassroots employee.

Since she insists on going unnoticed, she orders an austere bike that would allow her to commute from home to work and vice versa. On her first day, she meets Norah, who, to her (unpleasant) surprise, poses as the sole heiress of the Simeon fortune. To make her claim believable, Norah drives a Rolls Royce Phantom, a luxury vehicle worth roughly 10 million dollars ("borrowed" from her dad's boss without his consent). Naturally, judging from her attire and manners, everyone in the office believes her.

Meanwhile, Cecilia is the target of all manner of deriding comments from her co-workers, who make fun of her humble appearance and mode of transportation. In order not to reveal her identity and blow her cover, she decides to withstand humiliation, albeit in pain. So committed is she in concealing her secret that she instructs Logan Furrow (her boyfriend) to play along as Norah approaches him.

Not much time passes before the truth is finally unveiled, but it would not be smooth sailing from there on for Cecilia and Logan, as they'd have to contend, not only with Norah but also with a powerful tycoon set to destroy the legacy of both Simeon Group and Fallow Group (Logan's corporation) alike.

Cecilia Simeon

Cecilia is the witty and good-looking daughter of the CEO of Simeon Group, an environmentally concerned woman if there ever was one, and one who doesn't spare a radiant smile!

Despite her privileged status, she's not that concerned with luxuries or prestige and is not afraid of getting her hands "dirty," proverbially speaking, when the situation calls for it. Apart from her good appearance, she's quite the sweetheart, though she can get rather snarky towards the right people (especially Norah and those of her ilk).

Logan Fallow

Logan is also heir to a prestigious enterprise, the Fallow Group, that operates in the same area and is on good terms with the Simeon Group. Physically speaking, He's irresistibly handsome, so it's not difficult for him to get the ladies' attention based on looks alone, though, as we may see throughout the show, he's loyal enough not to fall prey to any of the girls approaching him, including Norah, the usurper herself.

Norah

Norah comes from a relatively humble family, though her behavior is anything but humble. Her father is a private chauffeur who spoils her daughter even at the expense of his own work ethic.

Not only does she have a sort of superiority complex, but she also instigates her father into irresponsibly "borrowing" a very expensive car from his superior so that she could drive it to work and brag about it with her rich co-workers.

Her delusion went off the charts, going so far as to claim she was actually the sole daughter of the "richest man," thus usurping Cecilia's role in order to make her way up the ranks. If anything, this shows that coming from a lower-class family does not necessarily grant you humility or virtue.

"The Heiress Strikes Back" is a heart-throbbing mini-series that revolves around a very clever theme. The undercover heiress concept may have been tried before, though, in this instance, it's coupled with an amazing script filled with shocking twists, smart dialogues, and enticing character arcs. The female lead (Cecilia) may well be one of the most likable main characters out of any short drama, an astute and sympathetic woman endowed with an enormous charisma, though, perhaps, a great part of that likability may be owed to the actress' superb performance.

Speaking of which, we have to praise the show's production and editing work. The scenes are very well-directed and the shots are highly inviting, adding more value to the entire project and guaranteeing an addictive audiovisual experience.
