Zyrthos, King of the Dragons, is afflicted by a lethal curse; only the breast milk of a human woman named Vera can sustain his life. Desperate to save her ailing young son, Toby, Vera ventures into the dragon's lair to apply as a wet nurse—unaware that she is the very cure the Dragon King has been seeking, and oblivious to the fact that the sick child in her arms is the Dragon King's own offspring, conceived a year ago in the Misty Forest.
