Eight years ago, Seahorse Queen **Seraphina** was ambushed and nearly assassinated in the northern forest of **Norden Reef**. She was saved by **Finn**, a commoner, and the two shared a brief romance. After Seraphina returned to the palace, Finn discovered that he was carrying Seraphina's child in his brood pouch — yet, because she never came back for him, he was forced to stay with the **Marlow** family. Imprisoned by his stepfather **Alders** and his half-brother **Cedric**, Finn had his newborn son **Corwin** forcibly cut from his brood pouch, and the boy was reduced to a tool for brewing the Marlow family's elixir, "**Coral Tears**."
Eight years later, Seraphina tracks her way to **Marlow Manor** — only to walk straight into the "real or fake Finn" scheme Alders has carefully engineered. A counterfeit prince consort, **Marina**, enters the palace with a counterfeit crown prince, **Cola**, while the real Finn and Corwin are locked away in the woodshed. Seraphina and the **Dowager Queen** join forces to expose the fraud: Alders and Cedric are executed, Marina is banished, and Finn and Corwin are finally brought home.
Afterwards, **Prince Valen**, consumed by jealousy, schemes against Finn and is stripped of his title and reduced to a commoner. When Finn returns home to visit his father, he suffers humiliation at the hands of his stepmother **Elsa** and the local tyrant **Serena**. Seraphina reveals her true identity, has Serena executed, and at last weds Finn in the royal palace. Corwin is named crown prince, and the story draws to a close with the whole family reunited.
