My adopted sister won the Elixir Challenge by stealing my potion. To her shock, she was informed that the event was a selection event for the future wife of the Serpentkins' future head—the same heir who was infamously impotent, barbaric, and hideous. When the Serpentkins sent over a proposal letter, demanding her hand in marriage, my fiance panicked and promptly took my adopted sister away for a quick marriage and even consummated. Once the deed was done, she returned triumphantly, showing off the mark on her lower back. "Well, what are you going to do now, Winnie?" she gloated. "Your fiance is mine now, and you'll be twenty-five in three days. If no one comes to pick you up, you'll just be dumped into the hands of some wife-beating Rogue who is ageing and unwanted…" Actually, she was wrong—I had a choice. I went to the parlor where my parents—who were busy fixing the mess my adopted sister made—were, announcing, "If she refuses to marry the future head of the Serpentkins, I will!"

He condescendingly proposed to her again and demanded that Ella continue to tolerate Talia. What he did not know was that Ella had long uncovered the truth behind his faked death. During those two years, she cleared her name, married Declan Grant, and gave birth to a pair of twins. Faced with Nolan’s public humiliation, biased favoritism and slap across her face, Ella offered no further explanations and refused to look back. She then traveled to Paris with her husband and children as originally planned. After Ella left, Nolan still blamed everything on her change of heart. It was not until the military reopened the old case that he learned Ella was the one who had given him her oxygen during the deep-sea accident. Talia had falsely claimed the act of heroism, spread rumors for years, intercepted messages, and framed Ella. Meanwhile, Declan confessed his long-hidden crush on Ella and gave her a proper proposal and wedding. At the wedding venue, Nolan received an arrest warrant. Right before our Mating Ceremony, my mate, Alpha Kaelen, appeared before me with his childhood friend, Roslyn. He told me Roslyn got pregnant but she didn’t have a mate yet. If the Wolf Council finds out she’s pregnant out of wedlock, she’ll be banished from Dawnlight Pack. He asked me to renounce tomorrow's Marking Rite of my own accord — to leave a letter telling everyone that I had been the one to break our mating vows. To appease me, he placed the one-of-a-kind Luna Crown in my hands and made his promise: "Once Roslyn and her pup gain a foothold, I will sever the bond. You will always be my fated mate." From the moment we first found each other, Kalen had been my entire world. I had once taken a poison-laced blade meant for him, and had purged every traitor from the pack on his behalf. For five years, I had never once doubted that what we had was real. But now, at last, I understood — I had loved the wrong person. I gave a quiet nod. Then I picked up my phone and sent a single message: "Dad, I'll be home in three days." What Kalen did not know was that I had never cared about the title of Luna in the Dawnlight Pack. Because I am the only daughter of the Lycan king.
